Good Afternoon..

Just a very short post to let you know that I have found it too difficult to write two blogs... I really enjoy The Blessed Hearth one more as it is just everyday living and doing..

I want to thank you all for being a part of this blog but please come and visit at the other one..

I have done a few postings on it about the shop which this blog is basically about anyway.. So come on over whenever you can as I will be posting over the summer about primitive crafting..

I will leave this blog as is as you may find something useful or interesting in it for now, anyway..

Today I posted some pics I took in the HOUSE OF HENRY last week..

It is ready to go... I was only open a few hours as the weather has been downpouring rain and my back acted up ... Much better now, thank you Lord..

Good Evening, prim friends...

I wanted to post tonight and thank my sweet friend,Christine for the lovely gift she sent to me all the way from Florida..

Christine takes the most glorious photos on her blog and I have followed it for quite a while and am always amazed at her beautiful photos..

The other day this parcel came in the mail and when I opened it I was so thrilled.

She had crocheted these dear little sachet bags for my herbs..

I can just imagine placing them in my dresser or linen closet full of lavender or rosemary or roses... smile...

She was so kind and I appreciate it...

Thank you, dear...

I am also posting a few pics of my shop from last summer.

We are getting ready to open again soon..

Just looking at the pics help me to realize what I need to replace the product that sold...

As you can see we have a mishmash of prims, antiques, and homemade salves, jams, jellies, pickles and such..

Alas, I am just working away here and there between going and doing other things..

We hope to open the first of June so hope to see some of you soon...

SWAP GIFT !!!

Hello all....

Today when we went to pick up our post Terry brought out a parcel:-). It was my swap gift from Lori at

Make Prim Happen .

We were both part of a SO YOU AND SO ME SWAP over at

Tammy's Primitive Place

I was so excited when I opened it as she had made me these wonderful quilted balls..

Arn't they lovely?

I have seen these before but have not tried my hand at making them.. It looks kind of complicated..

Then she included a wonderful wood bowl which she said she had bought at an Antique Barn near her in Ontario...

I love everything and they will look so prim on a table ...

I'm not sure yet where they will go as we have just got home after being away all day and I wanted to be sure to post it...

Lori said that the balls were SO ME and the bowl was SO HER..

But I think the bowl is also so me.. smile..

PRIMITIVE CRAFTING...

Good Morning my prim friends...

A perfectly beautfiul Spring day here in Eastern Canada... I noticed that the chives and Scottish heather are up ... We also have some other plants starting to poke up through the ground...

Gotta love Spring and all of it's blessings..

As I mentioned last time my cousin came and we crafted..

Just thought I would share a few things that we did...

The morning she came a dear lad came and hooked up my new wireless printer... What a blessing that will be...

Valerie showed me how to print a picture...

This crow...

I had a page from a very old book....

And then to have it transferred to fabric....

This will be turned into a drawstring bag...

I think these will sell in the shop...

THE HOUSE OF HENRY...

Plus you can make pillows and mats and whatever with this method..

The fabric is ironed onto heat and bond and put through the printer.

Just such an easy thing to do once you know...

With crows in mind, Val made this cloth .... It is the size of a pizza pan...

She used stencils and then the blanket stitch and vanilla spray....

On the back she used part of an old antique coverlid which had been her Grandmothers...

She said there was not much to salvage but isn't it a lovely fabric?

Here Val is showing me how to turn a print made on the printer into an oil painting.... (smile)

Spray it when it comes off the printer with a spray sealer...

Let it dry well....

Then with a stiff brush place a coat of glue...

Let it dry and crackle...

She says you can iron these if you like....

Then with a soft cloth put a coat of gel stain or some type of antiquing on them ...

Can you see the crackle... The gel just makes them look so old....

I mentioned to Val that I wondered what they would look like with a couple of coats of sealer and then framed....???

Val framed hers with glass....

She just emailed these to me as I had forgotten to take a pic of her finished product...

I have to get some gel stain before I can finish mine.

Have any of you done this... Perhaps you have a different technique..

I would love to hear from you...

Last but not least Valerie brought me a sweet gift.

Her Gram made a few of these and she gave me one..

Isn't it lovely? You can make a nice nightie with this and use it for the top...

Or I can just admire it and add it to my lace cupboard... smile...

Good Evening...

Posting a picture or two of my doings as far as getting ready to open the House of Henry again this summer.

As you can see in the above picture of the shoppe from last year we have a mixture of prim and antiques. Last year I began making some homemade salves, balms and such ...

I have herb beds here and at the cottage so it was kind of an experimental fun thing to do.

I did not do a lot but I did do sold very well.

So this past week I have been making some ...

There are homemade salves, lip and gardeners salve, also homemade deodorants, salt scrubs, and even homemade laudry soaps...

These are a few and they need to have some little prim packaging done to them...

I know that I have several readers who are checking on here to see what I am making to put in the shop..

So, here are some piles of lace that some of the girls love to dig through..

I love old stitcheries and have been trying my best not to pick up any as there are several stacked up in the shoppe already..

But I did get this one....

I also need to make up some nice smelly mixtures..

Well, that is all for tonight .... We have had a lovely Spring day here today... It feels so nice... I went out and dug a hen with her chickens to plant in a pot... It is hard to believe that they are right there under the snow growing away....

JUST A WEE SKIRT...

Good Evening...my dears....

A very windy day here in New Brunswick..

All that snow that we received just a few days ago has vanished.. Thank the good Lord.. I find wind gets rid of snow faster than rain. I am just so thankful for Spring ... My favorite season of them all...

I am posting a wee bit of history tonight...I hope you don't find it too boring... smile...

Anyway...

This photo is of a wee wool skirt. It is 72 years old.

It was the year 1939..

My Mother was the youngest child in the Weston family..

They all called her Biddy... She was so small..just a wee thing whose name really was Elizabeth..

She had 2 older sisters and 9 older brothers.. Two girls had died..

The year 1939 was the first year of the II World War and it was the year that my Grandfather passed away...

Can you imagine being left alone with 12 children? And these were the Depression years....Poor Gram..

My Mom was only 5 years old.. My Gramp had been a cook in the lumbercamps of Southern New Brunswick..

I was trying to imagine how my Gram must have felt... Oh my.

She was used to Gramp being gone, I suppose. But every few weeks he would come home and everyone was so glad to see him.. They say he loved to laugh and how much his children adored him..

Everytime he came home there would be a pay check... Groceries would be bought and bills would be paid.

Perhaps someone would get a new pair of shoes or maybe a scribbler was needed for school..

My Gram was not a beautiful woman but Mom says that Gramp so loved her... They made a promise to each other that if anything ever happened to one of them then the other one would not remarry .....

Gram kept that promise... She lived to be 85 years old.

Gramp was only 52 when he died... A lot of lonely years, eh?

The morning of the funeral Mrs. Grace Brown from across the road came over to Gram's house with a present for Biddy..

Mom opened up the brown paper parcel and inside was the wee cream colored skirt with wine colored stripes on it...

Mrs. Brown had made it for her that morning..

It fit perfectly and it was for her to wear to her Daddy's funeral.

So sad...

No longer would she be able to climb up onto his knee and kiss his whiskered face...

Nor would there be any more hugs good-night with the words --

"See you in the morning little Biddy."

Down over the years, my Mom would have many blessings in her life although on that day I don't expect anyone could see much to be thankful for..

Her older brothers took over their Dad's place in the home. Not only did they help with the finances but they helped Gram with the younger kids...

That is what they did back then...

Gram had two boys go overseas to War... One was captured and placed in a German prison but in 1949 they both came home safe and sound.. Thank you, Lord..

The years have passed and my Mom has met grief head on many times... Her Mom and my Dad ..Most of her brothers and a sister.

But God has been faithful to her and to her family.

My Gram enjoyed her life and was such a strong woman..

I loved as a child going down to visit a few times a year..

Now when I smell bacon frying I think of Gram or when I taste a really good Vanilla Cake she comes to my mind.

There was always homemade strawberry jam on the breakfast table when we would visit... A china cabinet filled with dishes that I loved to look at.. The smell of dulse drying in pillow cases up in the loft over the stairs is one that I will never forget...

And my sweet cousins waiting at the end of the lane..

Memories..

Gram was a great cook, a strong woman and a wonderful Mother..

My oldest uncle would come into church and walk up the aisle to where my Grandmother sat. He would bend down and kiss her cheek and say "Good Morning, Mother" and then go and find a place to sit..

Days of yesteryear...

Some people don't appreciate the memories and the tales of the past but I dearly love them..

Actually, they have help shape the person I am today whether I lived then or not.. My roots are all mixed up with theirs and some of their characteristics have found their way into the facets of my life and the way I live..

So by the way, Gramp... I love to laugh, too and Gram ... I make one mean batch of strawberry jam and I try to be strong like you...

I love Jesus Christ and He has really made me what I am today but the way I live and the things I do have a lot to do with those roots stuck on the bottom of my feet.. smile...

I am very happy to say I belong to the Weston Family of Fairfield, New Brunswick..

They are a wonderful loving people...

And not bad looking, either... smile..

I told you I like to laugh..

Prim Dried Pineapples...

Happy Monday everyone...

Just a short posting today to show you the pineapples that I dried.

Over at A Simpler Time they have a tutorial on drying pineapples. My cousin Val found it for me.. (thanks, Val)

I tried my best to link to the tutorial itself but for some reason I could not do it.. Sorry... Just use the above link which takes you to their site and on the left hand side it has a link there for you..

Anyway.. pineapples were on sale for $1.99 each so I decided to try a couple...

You have to dry them a long time in the oven so I decided I may as well try two as one... I am glad I did...

Also... count on using a LOT of papertowels...

I am very happy with how they turned out.

They shrunk up quite a lot...

But as you can see they still look great...

They turn out very hard and the tops are crisp but they don't break easily..

I have been going around sticking them here and there...smile..

Just to give you a few ideas of what you can do with them...

They are a sign of Welcome so I stuck them in this basket in the foyer... It could use a little more berries or something but you can get the idea...

They are lovely in any old wood box or basket...

Anyway, I imagine you have many better ideas but at least I can tell you that the tutorial is really great and the pineapples do dry really well.. I love them ...

Stuff for the Shop...

Hello my dears... Today I tried to get some plans made for opening up our little prim shop (HOUSE OF HENRY) down in St. Martins. As I have already posted we were not sure whether we were going to actually open this summer but have decided to.

Here is a pic just to remind you and myself what it actually looked like last year.. smile... It has been quite a Winter and I had kind of a blurred memory of it.

We had also gone to Pa. and bought some lovely prims to sell. I do not know if we are going for sure again this Spring...

I can order though so that is fine.

I am posting a few pics of some of the olde stuff we have picked up so far ...

I really need to give the credit to my Step-Father as he actually goes to the auctions and buys it and then I get it from him if it something that is good for the shop.

A nice old mustard box with a leather strap..

It has a local name and place written in pencil on the top.

An olde suitcase and key....

I put some of this stuff around the spare rooms until we get a chance to take it down...

Green handled kitchen utensils....

Old quilts, maps, books and stamps....

He bought this quilt last week. It is made from flour sacks and is in good condition ...

An old rusted cream can that would be great on a veranda or deck...

And then of course I am crafting some. I do need to do MUCH more but I am so SLOW..

Didn't I complain about that last year, too? lol.

I expect you are all keeping busy getting ready for gardens and such.. We are getting rid of our snow but the fields are still quite full... It will go though in it's own time...

Doughboard Essentials...

Good Evening my dears... Just a short posting tonight. Terry and I have made a decision as far as our wee shop goes.. We were trying to decide whether to open or not... Last summer we found that we were rather tied up with getting the new building ready plus trying to be open so much.. We think if we schedule certain hours it will hopefully work out much better...We will probably open in June sometime....I expect so anyway...

Therefore .... I need to get busy creating and planning during the next couple of months.. Time is flying...But at least now we have made a choice....

In the pic up above I made some prim potholders like the ones they use at Kings Landing heritage village in all the kitchens...

They are made out of old wool....

I use them myself and really like them...

I have a couple of dough boards already and will be looking for more.

The doughboard above is from the shop..

Also... I am making candle mats from old quilts...

Very easy to make....

Just cut out and sew together... Turn inside out and tie with a some embroidery floss...

They would look great on a doughboard with a candle or light on them, eh?

I would like to make several in different shapes.

If I would only hang on to the ones I make I could get a few ahead... smile....

What are you girls doing this week? It is March break for the schools here...

And... we are having a LOT of rain... Thank the Lord.. It is not snow...I can now SEE the bare roof...Imagine...

A funny little story about an art collage...

Hello.... How art thou? A little saying of mine that most of my good friends know me by...sorry...

Anyway... We are still under a lot of snow here in Maritime Canada.. Today the wind is blowing the snow against the windows but all is cozy inside.

I have someone here I would like for you to meet... (if you will)..

Her name is HANNAH KINGSTON...

She is my first cousin Val's great great grandmother...

I don't know if you recall but last summer when I had the shop up and running I had done an art project ... (just for fun)

A couple of wee girls had come into the shop who were about ten years old. They were telling me about an art project that they had done in school. They were given an old photo and they had to write a story describing a life they imagined for that person.

So with that in mind I took a large old photo that I had bought at the fleemarket in Sussex and did a little collage with it...

I made up a story about the lady in the photo and glued pics of her family (that I had imagined) and some of things that I imagined that she had been interested in such as birds, sewing, and music...I also added some old lace and such....

I had fun puttering away at this in the shop waiting for customers..smile.

Okay.... to make a long story short..My cousin Valerie visited me at the shop (she is one of my best customers..smile) and mentioned that she THOUGHT that the photo looked a lot like one she had of HER great great grandmother..

I just smiled and thought to myself that those old ladies all looked the same...eh? They are all so severe and pious looking...lol...

The poor dears... They were told to look that way for some reason..

Anyway.... a couple of weeks ago I received an email from Val with these two pics of the old photo she had of HER grandmother..

I could not believe my eyes.... It was the EXACT same lady...

Life is so full of coincidences... That I would happen to buy a photo of my COUSIN`S gram and that she would HAPPEN to come into the shop and SEE it... Neat....

I love it when little things like that happen in my world...

Makes life interesting...

MASON JAR LIGHT AND BEET SALAD

Here we are into another weekend and believe it or not we are in the middle of a blizzard:)

I have been reading about snow drops and spring flowers but it is beyond my imagination at the moment..

I guess this is what it means to live in the North...

Anyway....

I thought that I would show you a LITTLE project that we completed this week.

Terry hung this neat hanger that I had bought from Mayberries...

(a wonderful prim shop in Riverview which is only a few miles from here...)It is made from old barn boards, I think...

Then when I was looking through some old country samplers I saw this idea with the old mason jars...

They used votive candles which I did not have but you get the idea anyway...

I also need to buy some more lentils...lol...

Then later I can change and add some prim towels for a change..

I think it makes the kitchen nice and cozy...

So what have you been doing in your prim homes to keep busy?

I tried to organize my craft room again today... That will last until I begin another sewing project...lol..

I thought perhaps that I would include this little salad recipe..
Last summer I froze some beets.. I had not done that before and I thought it would be worth a try to see how they would taste. Well... they are wonderful.. I will try to do them again this Fall..
Now that Terry is retired and home every day I find I am trying to get him eating more salads.. I love them and it is not a hardship for me to make... This is one that we had today..
It is very good and a different way from eating them rather than as a vegetable sidedish... You could use a can of beets as well...

BEET AND ONION SALAD..

2 cups or so of beets.. sliced or a can .. drained..

1 small white or red onion ..sliced thin..

Place in a small bowl..

DRESSING

2/3 cup olive or canola oil

1/3 cup wine vinegar

1 clove garlic..minced

kosher salt and freshly ground pepper

Whisk well..

Mix together and let it all marinade for an hour or so..

Hello dearies...

Here we are into another weekend.. I am reading where Spring is arriving in a lot of places across the world...

There is no sign of it here yet except for milder weather.. We still have tons of snow.. Oh well.. this too shall pass no doubt...

I finished the Raggs doll..

Sorry about the picture..I have a new camera and have not mastered it yet..

She is quite big and she can also be hung as well as sitting..

She has a cinnamon mixture dusted on her clothes and a bit of moss here and there.. She is holding a prim sewn star...

She has wings and checked bloomers...

Anyway...

I wanted to show you something Terry got me at an auction..

It is a top of an old steamer trunk..

It has really been around for a while..

It stands about four feet tall and is teadyed perfectly..lol..

What would you do with it? Most girls would probably throw it out. I may put it in the shop... I don't know..

For now I have it in my sewing room holding patterns, etc..

If you have any suggestions please let me know.. ok?

I haven't shared a recipe for a bit so I am posting this one ..

It is one of Terry's favorites..

Saturday Morning Breakfast.

This is big enough for 2 or 3 people..

Peel a small potato for each person who is having breakfast.

In a medium size frying pan add a tablespoon of oil and fry up the potatoes..I usually put a cover on for a bit..

While they are cooking whisk up an egg or two each in a small bowl..

Add salt and pepper and some chopped herbs.. chives or parsley or whatever..

When the potatoes are almost tender add the egg mixture..

Kind of pull the mixture back a bit like you do omelets..

Put on a cover and cook on medium heat until eggs are set and cooked..

Turn onto a warmed plate and enjoy..

Snow and some prims....

Hello my prim friends... So sorry for not posting.. WINTER is here in Eastern Canada in a BIG way.. Soooo much snow.. I am beginning to think that we are hibernating..LOL..

Just kidding... We do get out and about some...

Poor Terry spends a lot of his day trying to get rid of all the snow.. The roof and the drive gets cleared and along comes another STORM...

Here he is doing his best to get it off of our roof....

On the news they keep warning us to get rid of it if we can.. Several buildings have had their roof cave in on them...

This is looking out our family room window.. Whoops.. You can't see anything much except snow...lol.

The sun does manage to get in over the top of it all...lol..

That is when it is out....

Our home is in a U shape and snow collects in the centre.. Terry said in a lot of spots there were 4 feet of the stuff..

Looking out the same window to the garage on the left... The snow is almost to the roof... LOL..

Now, we will waltze over to the kitchen window which looks out the other end...

The patio is there and as you can see it is FULL....

You can hardly see the garden shed...

Yes, I still have a few snowmen decorating the windowsill. I did put all the rest away...

I only remember one other time that we had anywhere near this much snow in the twenty-five years we have lived here.....

The banks along the streets are above our heads and in town you have to drive with much caution as you can not see around the corners of the banks very well..

What can I say?? Tis great to live in Canada, eh?

LOL.

Now to get on to SPRING things.....

The shop... HOUSE OF HENRY....

It is hard to believe that just in a few months we will be heading to St. Martins to the cottage and getting the shop up and going again..

I really need to get at it but I am not motivated enough yet, I guess.

Here are a few things I have been getting together..

A lovely old quilt in perfect condition and rich colors..

I was happy to find that...

Here are some more cushions that are finished.. They are really sweet but the pic does not show them up that great...

They are tea dyed and look fine in reality...I think they would look lovely in the right spot...

I have several dolls in different stages.. This one is almost finished. She is a large doll...

Just giving you a peak... She should be finished tomorrow and then I will show you the finished product... ok?

I hope you will forgive me for not posting very often.. I have been doing better on my other blog as it is more about my everyday activities...I also have a wee quiz going on if you would like to check it out...

I need to get serious and get crafting very soon so I will try and keep you posted.

Just a short post ... I found these doll heads among my craft supplies..

I had bought them in a box at an auction a few years ago..

Just the heads... These three had white covered eyes and in need of a good clean.. As you can see they cleaned up well..

I love the middle one and am sure that my sister and I used to have the first one.... I guess that makes these VINTAGE....lol..

The rest were in pretty bad condition so this is what I did with them...

Cut their heads and remade them some bonnets ...

for straight pins, safety pins, and such...

I guess they would be pin cushions....

Not pinkeeps, eh?

I don't think they are old enough to be called pinkeeps...

Then this one I glued onto an old mason jar for buttons...

I may do the same with some of the others...

Not sure, yet...

I saw this idea in a book somewhere that someone had made one from an antique doll's head. It was lovely and looked much more elegant.. Actually, it was probably a work of art not just a craft like this..

Getting ready for the Shop....

Hello my dears.... Thought you might like to see the pillows that I made with some of the lace and linens that I had picked up the other day....

As I mentioned before this idea was in a Somerset magazine but I did my take on them which is much more primitive...

Another snowy day yesterday so took the time to sew...

Here are a few plates that I picked up at a thrift store..

Lovely plates for the shop... You could use them as charger plates....

If anyone is interested in anything that I will be showing on this blog from now on please email me...

I hope to start getting things prepared for the shop this coming Summer and will sell from here, too..

I will accept money orders and delivery can be arranged..

THRIFT FINDS AND A STORY YOU WON'T BELIEVE...

Hello all... I thought I would do a wee post of some thrift store - auction finds that I had picked up lately...

Actually, this lamp is a gift that my dear friend Nancy gave to me for Christmas.. Nancy worked for me for many years when I did the craft circuit... She is a very talented painter as well as a sister in the Lord. We have been friends for almost thirty years and had so much fun working together and putting on Open Houses here...

Anyway, she told me she bought this lamp at a thrift shop...

She repainted it and used a marker to add the snowman and little saying on it and then antiqued it...

You sure know how to TWINKLE...

I love it on my kitchen window sill.. Thanks, Nance:)

Here are some linens that I got at the auction for guess how much?

Three dollars for each lot.. There are two lots in the pic I think...

I was browsing through the magazine section and saw some really neat pillows done with old lace and linens...

You sew a pillow and make a pocket with the doilie and stuff it with antique pics and music papers and such..

Then you add some old buttons or broaches..

I will no doubt tea dye it all too...

I think it was in the Somerset mag of sewing...

I will try and do one tomorrow and show you all..

Neat, eh? I am going to put in a couple of big clove candles that I did and see if I can find a place for them in the front foyer or I could put them in the shop....

Before I go...I thought I would share this wee story that was on the news..

There are two foxes wintering on a roof of a house in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island ..(which is only a couple of hours away from here)...

The news said it is the most photographed house in PEI...

No wonder!!!

I just happened to have the camera beside me and tried to snap of couple of pics off the TV...

No, we do not have a flat screened one.. It is not an important piece of furniture in our home.. He likes sports and I like cooking shows... Anyway...

Sorry the quality is not so great nor is it the best pic they showed but anyway you can get the picture...lol...

I am sure you could google this if you can't believe your eyes..lol....

ANTIQUES AND DECLUTTERING....

Hello prim friends... How are you all this blissful January? I feel so much better that I am beginning to enjoy this quietest of all months... There is so much to do.... Terry and I are trying to declutter... He and I both hang on to things way too long.

We have decided to work together and get rid of some stuff... He has paperwork galore and I hang on to sentimental things. You know all the little things like music books, wee dolls and cars, report cards and so much when you raise a family...

Oh well, we are getting a corner here and a corner there cleaned...lol...

As you can see I love antiques as does my dear husband... After forty years you can collect quite a few... I am glad that primitve and antiques go together..

Our livingroom is not as prim as I would like it but anyway....

There are so many places to find antiques at good prices if you keep looking.... Auctions, fleemarkets and yard sales..

And of course, the House of Henry in St. Martins, N.B..lol...

My friend Tammy gets sooo much on the internet...

I bought the wheel above at an auction and the carriage at a yard sale...

This is a beautiful old crazy quilt that I bought last year at an auction.

There is one a lot like it at Kings Landing Historical Village...

I was at the viewing before it began and an old teacher of mine was there who is now a dealer and he told me I would get it for two hundred dollars if I was lucky...

Well, I guess I was blessed for I only paid thirty-five dollars for it..

Thank you, Lord.. I do love it and do not plan on putting it in the shop...

Here are a few finds that I have picked up last week...

old boxes, rusted pail, wood cheese box.. (I think) and a lovely old pottery bowl.. They are for the shop....

Here's a pretty tablecloth from the Thrift store. It was only a couple of dollars... I love fabrics and am always on the lookout..

This lovely old tea set was for sale at the fleemarket...

As you know, I love old dishes but am trying my best to part with a lot of them.

I am still not getting any crafting done... Perhaps, next week...lol..

Since I have some help I thought I had better make sure we work at this declutter thing....

I wonder how we will ever scale down ....

Our darlin kids have been advising us to start this journey for a few years now.... Yeah, good luck with that...lol...

Sorry, kids... Oh well, they don't read this anyway...lol...

No, really I think we need Help.... from Above....

IF and WHEN we really get serious about selling this place and going to something smaller...

In the meantime we will continue to enjoy this house where we have raised our family and been HOME to us for twenty - five years..

So thankful for the blessings we have enjoyed in this place...

The Bay of Fundy in the Winter and Cordelia....

Good Evening All..

We have had a great weekend and here it is Monday night again.

I have not been crafting any as I have been puttering around getting the house back to order after the Christmas decorating..

So....

I am posting a pic of a doll that I made for Christine on a swap that she and I decided to do..

She just received it due to the postal systems...

Just another Raggs but Christine named her Cordelia...

I am so glad she received such a wonderful new home.

I loved my santa stocking that Christine made for me, too.

I posted about it previously...

Things have been pretty slow around here lately...

Just trying to get back to normal and get things put away..

Terry and I went down to St. Martins to check on the cottage and shop last week.. I did take a few pics of the Bay of Fundy..

Terry gave me a new camera and I am slowly getting used to it...

The Caves... Pretty bleak compared to Summer, eh?

Still beautiful, though...

A wonderful windy day... You could hear the waves all over town..

They were pounding on the shores..

Our dear old cottage was so cold and not very inviting..

The wind must have been pretty bad there lately..

But everything was fine..

Nevertheless, it was good to get back home and warm ourselves around the fire...

I am hoping to get back to crafting soon.. I had planned on doing some today but you know what happens to the best laid plans of mice and men..lol...

A change of plans and a Doll....

Our first Monday in the year 2011 !! I awoke this morning with my lists of goals and challenges all listed in my list book...lol.. Got up and went to the window and pulled aside the curtain and could not believe my eyes... SO MUCH SNOW...

I was not expecting this.... It was so mild and I thought it was melting the snow not bringing down more... Oh well.... Then the lights flicker and oh no... I had not had my coffee yet...lol..
Well, it only blinked so I rushed out and filled the pot...I also filled a few jars and the washing machine with water. (for the flush).. Plugged in the kettle and made a thermos of tea... I love having my nice hot cuppa when there is no electricity..... We burn wood but it is a furnace and kind of hard to heat up a kettle on it...lol... The Lord was good and after everything was ready the hydro did go off for good...
Needless to say..... So much for my lists .....lol..
The day just got all turned around.... So, I thought I might as well watch the birds..

I guess they must have gone south....lol..

To change the subject------

Has anyone noticed how hard it is to get pics on blogger lately..

Or is it just me...

Anyway....I thought I would show you a pic of the doll I made Shonda for Christmas...

Her dress is made from some of the 1800`s fabrics I bought this past summer... Also, she has some antique rhinestone tape around her waist...Her shawl is prim lace and she has a handsewn face..

I never know how they will turn out unless I am using a pattern but if not then they just keep evolving...lol..

Here she is all settled in her new home...

She holds a silicone lamp on her lap....

You know it is still fun to make a doll for our little girl...

even if she is all grown up....
